Springin' back into it...

Happy Spring! Although, we have had only like 2 days of spring-like weather! :o( I woke up today and thought to myself, "Why not start blogging again?" To be honest, I kinda miss it. I can't believe it's been like 4 months since I've posted anything! Yesterday, I started tweeting a little bit more and interacting with some followers and it made me miss my blog...

I figure I start blogging again with no obligations. Whenever I feel like it, I'll do it. I felt like it was turning into a job with reviewing and promoting things, which I didn't mind at all, but things got so busy around here and I couldn't find the time to do it any more. So I took a nice little break.

Let's see, what's new...? Nothing really. We had our wonderful 1st family vacation in Brazil over the holidays. It was great! The girls did wonderfully on the airplane. We were shocked! Within the new year came a nice promotion for my hubby. He is now the Associate Director of Admissions of Manor College. Wo0-ho0! He has also decided to go back to school as well! I'm still in school. I have about a week left of this semester! I wish I could say, I'll have a nice break in the summer, but I won't. Of course like last year, I will be taking up summer courses. Why not? They're accelerated and a little harder but I rather do 5 weeks of classes than 15 any day! This time it will be a little different though. I will actually have to GO INTO the class. I've ran out of online classes to take :o( It'll be nice though. To actually interact with other people in the class and I'll be able to concentrate more on my work since NO KIDS ALLOWED! Haha!

What else? What else? Oh can we talk about how expensive childcare/preschool is? I have been looking into it for the girls since Lyla will be 3 in the summer. I decided to put Kalina into school as well to get her used to it already since I will be in school full time by next Fall. Wow, everything is so expensive! I finally found a great one that is right across the street from where I'll be attending next year and I feel like I have to give an arm and a leg to pay for it. I'm just going to leave this for another post...

So I turned 25 on April 5th. Boy do I feel old. I had a really hard time with it. Sort of like a quarter-life crisis. My hubby was nice enough to point out that now I'm officially on another bracket. You know when you fill out an application or survey? I used to fill in the circle that stated my age was between 18-24. Now I'm on the one below that says 25-34! Thanks babe, for pointing that out! I feel like I have a lot accomplished for 25. I've been married for almost 6 years now (May 14th), I bought my house at 19, I have 2 amazing, crazy little girls, along with 2 crazy dogs and our lives are only going up from that. I'm working towards my degree and career while the hubby is successfully enjoying his. I couldn't be happier!

Other than that, things around here are pretty much the same. We have set a new 5 year plan/goal for our family and we are working so hard towards that. I love setting goal for us because it gives us something to strive for. And in 5 years we can look back and see how much of it we have accomplished. Again, I'll save this for another post...

It's that most wonderful time of the year again! The Holidays are fast approaching us. Are you done all your shopping yet? Have some of you procrastinated like me and even started it??

This is one of the busiest time of the year. We are all running around like crazy trying to buy that one special gift for our loved ones. Not only do we have to worry about gifts, we also have to worry about sending out Christmas cards!!

Again, if you're anything like me, I'm always leaving it to last minute to get things done. Having 2 little girls, we have made a tradition to take them to get their pictures taken with Santa! I think it's safe to say most parents have this tradition as well. Then we have to worry which cards to pick, which photos to use, are they going to arrive on time? Etc.

I'M ALIVE AND BORING!!

Hellooooooo Everyone!

I'm Baaaaaaack! I can't believe it's been over a month and I haven't posted a thing. Sorry for the total MIA thing but I have been so busy lately. We're venturing off to new adventures in our lives, and mommyhood, and school it just added up to take up my entire time!! And to be completely honest, I haven't been in the mood to blog. But today, I feel so fresh and new and excited that I th0ught, "Why not?"

I'm still boring as usual. The hubby has been completely busy at work, which is a good thing, and I have been busy in my stay at home job. Because winter is fast approaching us, I have been away from the computer a bit and out doing stuff with my girls. We are soon going to be cooped up in the house (because going out when it's cold outside with 2 kids = no fun), I wanted to take advantage of the last few moments of nice weather. We have been doing storytime at Barnes & Noble about twice a week. WOW! I never thought my kids would sit still through 3-4 books in a row. Not only is educational and fun, but I feel like it's preparing them for school. It's great and they interact with other kids. We usually go to the one in Neshaminy Mall. Right after storytime we walk around and do lunch! I love it!

I have also been making a point to spend extra quality time with them because I decided it's time for me to go back to work. I know I'm going to have such a hard time when the time actually comes but I know it's best. In order for us to achieve some of our goals that we have set for our family, I should contribute. I don't think it's fair to put the whole responsibility on the hubs. Plus, the girls have been soooo attached to me lately that I think it will be good for them to start interacting with other kids in a school environment. It's a win-win situation for all with definitely some getting use to.

We also have been getting ready for our BIG holiday trip to Brazil!!! I'm sooo excited. I get to spend Christmas and New Year's with my family down there. It will be the first time for the girls to travel and be on an airplane which we are all nervous about. But I can't wait for my extended family to meet them. We are traveling with my parents and bro which will be extra hands to help out in the airports and such. It's a loooong trip. I've been going crazy because it's so much paperwork, passports, visas, and packing to do! It's going to be total hotness down there which means packing all summer clothes. Most of their summer clothes will not be fitting them in December which makes shopping for them when it's Fall/Winter time, very hard. Not only am I packing for the hubby and I, but now I have to add 2 kids to it! Can you imagine all the crap that I have to remember to pack?? Ugh! But it will all be worth it!!

School has been good. This semester is almost over! Thank God!! I never thought time management would be such an issue with online classes. But when you have 2 kids who needs your constant attention, it leaves me little with no time to actually get my work done. I try to keep my eye on the prize which is my degree. And although, my kids are the main focus of interference when it comes to my school work, they are my ultimate motivation to get it done.

Among the many other 384286874583 things that I have going on right now, I will try to get back into blogging. I have a couple products to promote that I have been slacking on...

The hubby and I have some exciting new things that we are working on that we still have to be hush hush about until....

Hopefully I will be able to share some with you soon!

To My Mama

This is the cutest song ever! I want to dedicate this song to all of the mamas out there, especially mine!! I love you so much and you're my inspiration for everything! I hope one day Lyla & Kalina will have the relationship I have with my mom today. We're best friends, we talk on the phone at least 5 times a day! It's sad that because I didn't have a boy, I won't have a "mama" dance at their weddings while John will have 2!! I think it's totally ok for them to do a father/daughter dance followed by a mother/daughter dance ;o)

Keep up the good work to all the moms out there! And a special thank you to my mama for everything she has done and continues on doing...

The First Chilean Miner Is Rescued

I'm so happy that the Chilien Miners are finally being rescued! I can't imagine going through what they went through. God bless each and one of them and their families.

This video brought tears to my eyes. It's a clip of the first Chilean miner being rescued and united with his family. It just broke my hear to see his son waiting for him...

It fits right in my diaper bag and it's so easy to clean. It's also BPA free! This has been perfect for us especially for Kalina. Do you believe in signs?

Ever have one of those days where you're just daydreaming about the future? You sit there and you play out all of the goals you want to have for yourself and your family. Some are more realistic than others, but it's ok to dream right? To be so cliche, I believe that you can do and achieve anything that you set your mind to.

I'm one of those people that once I set a goal that I believe in so much and I'm motivated enough to go after it until I achieve it, then it's going to happen. Guarantee. For example, I decided to go back to school and get a degree. I won't give up, as hectic as my life can get, until I have that degree in my hands. Even if I'm still going to school by the time I'm 30!!

Anyway, I think it's safe to say when some of us make a big decision or is about to, we always look for secure sign, even if it's a little something, just to assure us that what we're doing is right. I take signs as little reminders from God. He is telling me to go further with it. I'm always praying for a little sign just to let me know this is where I'm supposed to be headed. The whole school, I totally got a sign for it and it has been great ever since. Recently, the hubby and I have been talking about some things. Some big decisions to make. One that can make a BIG difference in our lives. It's always hard to make such a decision that can impact all of us because now we have 2 little ones to think about too. Before when it was just me and him, we didn't care, we took all the chances we could. But now I have more people to consider...

So yesterday, we were talking about our options and things like that, nothing too serious, very unsure about some things. Then, I get a call from the hubby to check my email. He had sent me a picture from his phone. Under the picture he wrote, "Don't know if this is a sign or not but this was left at my table." All I can say is that my jaw dropped and I immediately called him. That picture was a total sign of the EXACT "subject" that we were talking about. I mean it couldn't been more clear. It really freaked me out, in a good way. He even said that he thought that was God reminding him of what he needed to do today.

Now I know I'm leaving everyone in suspense but I don't want to go into details of anything. I don't want to "jinx" it. I don't like to tell people what we're thinking about doing until everything goes right and it's done. But I can say, that one picture made my day because it was definitely a sign from God almost giving us His support on our decision.

(Don't worry, we're not talking about having another baby! lol)

hate mornings! (By the way, did you read that title like the Rod Stewart song Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?) Cause that's how you were supposed to read it...

Anywho, I'm not typically a morning person. The hubby will let you know about that. I'm useless before 8am. At times when I go to bed late such as 2am and have to wake up at 6am, I feel great! But I don't know what it is about mornings that we just can't get along. I do like the fact that I can't sleep in any more either though. I feel like I can get a lot more done when I'm up early.

But I'm totally straying away from the whole point of this post. It's really to tell you that I did not have a great start to my day. To make a long story short, I was about to change Lyla's morning diaper and put her panties on (our normal morning routine). I realized that there was a lot more than what I bargain for in that diaper. She really wanted to continue to play instead of letting me change her. Once I laid her down I found out why....

As soon as I laid her down she put her index finger in her mouth and began to gag. I thought she was doing this to make herself throw up and show me how pissed off she was that I interrupted her play time. She began to throw up as I quickly stood her up. Throw up was ALL over the rug. It smelled sooo bad. I'll deal with poop any day, but I hate cleaning up vomit!! So now not only am I dealing with a poopy diaper but throw up on my floor! But that wasn't even the shocking part of it all. In the middle of her chewed up breakfast on the floor was a very shiny... can you guess??

A PENNY!! At first I thought she had swallowed it at some point in her lifetime and just now it decided to come out, but I realized that when I laid her down and she put her finger in her mouth and started choking, it was because she had a penny in her mouth!!! Ew! Here she was going about her morning sucking on a disgusting, dirty penny! I don't even know where she found it because we make sure to keep all loose change away from their reach.

So I threw her in the tub (not really threw but you know). She smelled so bad I couldn't just wipe her down. A few scrub-a-dub-dub later, she was shiny & clean, just like that penny.

It wasn't even 10am yet and that's what I had to deal with. BUT on a lighter note, Lyla has been awesome on the potty today! She went all day on the potty all by herself. She even took a nap in her panties and woke up dry! As soon as she got up she walked up to her potty and went! Proud moment!

Ok, enough ramblings! Off to run some errands!!

Insert Clever Title Here

I sat here for about 5 minutes thinking of a clever title to call this post. I even googled a funny, tired title. Yup, just totally did that. But as tired as I am right now, my sense of humor just isn't sensing right now. The pic above is totally me right now, except I'm cuter. ;o)

I'm literally laying on my phone right now because it has not stopped ringing or me calling/texting ALL DAY! I think my phone wants to quit right now. I def. worked it overtime today. All thanks to the much planning for Kalina's 1st birthday party next weekend. From everyone RSVP-ing to me ordering stuff after stuff and cancelling stuff after stuff. All for a party she won't even remember lol. But it's all worth it!

Aside from all the party stuff, I also cleaned out the girls' closets. All clothes, toys, gadgets, books etc. that they no longer use or wear came flying down the steps.

This is what my couch looked like earlier today. That wasn't even all of it. That was only 3 bags of clothes lol. I have donated sooo much that this is what was left of the unwanted clothes. I actually had a couple people stop by today and bought some! I'm still going through toys, high chair, strollers, car seats, etc. So if you need/want any baby stuff, let me know! I want it ALL gone. Especially how Kalina's birthday is next week and I know we're going to be getting some presents that I need to make room for!

So that was that. I actually just cleaned up and straightened the living room up. The hubs working late tonight, so I was on mommy & daddy duty today. No break for me. I had to make dinner, feed, bathe and clean, so yeah I'm tired. I even decided to be a good student and sit in front of the computer and get some homework out of the way! I totally deserve a star for that one.

Ok, kids are asleep and the hubby just walked in with some Wawa! Hell yeah!! I told him to surprise me... I wonder what he got me...

A Mother's Touch

I could never understand what a mother's touch or a mother's instinct could really do, until I became a mother. It truly is a miracle what it can do. My first experience as a mom was right after Lyla was born. We haven't slept in 4 days because I was having contractions for that long. We were so tired that our last night at the hospital, John suggested that the nurses take her into the nursery and only bring her in for feeding, so we can have some kind of sleep. I really didn't want to do this because I would miss her too much. Plus, as a new mom I felt like I was trading my baby in for a few hours of sleep. But I knew we both needed some rest before heading home to do it all on our own. So I let them take her away into the nursery. Now I know they say a baby can only see a blurry 6 inches away but I swear as they rolled her out, she turned her head and looked right at me! I just broke down to tears as I saw her looking at me and wondering why I wasn't going with her. I just kept crying to the point John just said, let's bring her back in here if it will make you feel better. At that point, only 20 minutes went by and I got a phone call from the nurses asking if they could bring her back into the room. I asked them if there was something wrong and they simply replied that since she left the room she has not stopped crying. I told them ME TOO! Bring her back! As soon as she came back into the room, she fell asleep. Aw, she just missed her mama and I sure missed her...

Well, I came across this video and my little story is far from a miracle then this mother's. Kate Ogg gave birth to premature (27 weeks) twins. Emily made it just fine. But Jamie was pronounced dead after 20 minutes of the doctor's trying to revive him. The doctor's handed the lifeless little boy to his parents to say goodbye. Kate immediately took her shirt off and was skin to skin with her baby for 2 hours!! After 5 minutes of her holding him and caressing him and talking to him, he started moving. Doctors still did not give them hope because he claimed it was just a reflex. The baby's movements got stronger and stronger and eventually he even opened his eyes! Kate put a little bit of breastmilk on her finger and he began to suck. Doctors could not believe their eyes. This baby was not breathing nor he had a heartbeat but with his mother's touch and embrace, she brought him back to life.

That doesn't say much about science, huh? After a measly 20 minutes, the doctor's gave up! Seriously? Is that our cut off time to try to revive someone these days? Of course, a mother was patient enough to hold her son for 2 hours!! What if they cut her time off after a few minutes? This baby would've just sat there dead with no one paying attention to it while the parents mourned him and planned his funeral. Unreal. It goes to show that God is above all Science.

Take a moment and think about it. Kate did what was intended for all of us to do before science began to take over. And a miracle was born...

Clothes Swap Party: Yay or Nay?

Ever heard of "One's girl's trash is another girl's treasure?"

We're all guilty in having clothes and other accessories in our closets that we haven't worn in months, some even years! There is always that one piece or pieces that you just can't bring yourself to get rid of. You always make an excuse such as, "Well, I was looking for that! or So what it's not in style any more, I can wear it around the house!" Let's be honest, we NEVER do!

I made a rule around here. If we haven't touched it, seen it, used it, missed it or worn it in a year, then we don't need it! This is where clutter comes from! Is your closet FULL but yet you stare at it for hours and still say, "I have nothing to wear!" ?? Well, then it's time for a change. This is exactly how I feel. I can't buy anything new because I have no room and I feel like my closet is full. But it's full of nothing I wear any more!! So another rule we have is, in order to buy a new one you get rid of an old one. This mainly applies to the hubby who has so many t-shirts, hoodies, and sneakers!! So if he sees one that he likes and wants, he can buy it as long as when we get home he donates an old one!

We've gotten rid of so much already. We donated bags FULL of clothes, shoes, and other accessories. But now that Fall/Winter is right around the corner, it's always a good time to go through your Spring/Summer stuff and get rid of it instead of storing it again for yet another season.

SOOO I'm thinking about having a Clothes Swap Party. I've heard about other people doing this and I thought, why not? It's a great way to get rid of something that one of your friends might like and instead of shopping and spend money, you swap! Not only will you feel good about putting your under utilized clothes and such to good use, but you will be recycling them as well! It's also a great way to hang out with your friends!

I would love to hear feedback on this and see if anyone has ever had one or been to one? Did you like or not? I know the goal is to have several people with different sizes. So what do you think?

My Perfect Day

Ever had one of those days where EVERYTHING goes the way you planned or wanted to? That was my day yesterday! And it doesn't happen too often when you're a stay at home mom/student/wife/keep inserting titles here...

If you didn't know, yesterday was Grandparent's Day! My parents offered if they could take our girls to the mall and hang out with them. Now, normally John and I go along with them because wherever our girls are, we are too! No matter who's with them we're always there because we like to hang out as a family. But due to the clutter that has been swallowing our house in whole, we decided to let them go with my parents and meet up with them once we were done.

It broke my heart to have them say goodbye to me and drive away. Ok, I know I know. I'm so dramatic. They were only going to the mall with my parents for a few hours!! But they are never without me, unless I really need to run an errand or go to an appointment without them.

Anyway, so we got A LOT done in the house. We got to spend some time together just laying around, watching t.v. and then we got ready to go out. It's amazing how quickly we can get ready without interruptions and without having to worry about diaper bag, outfits, bottles, etc.

For the first time in a long time, we took the hubby's car. We're always in my SUV with the girls because of the carseats, so it was nice to be just the 2 of us in his convertible. It felt like those pre-mama days. We decided to stop and grab something to eat since my parents ate with the girls. Hubby decided for sushi.

We went to OOKA! OH-EM-GEE! At first I was hesitant to even go to eat because it had been 3 hours already without my babies and we were supposed to meet them at the mall but the thought of eating at a restaurant just the hubs and I and I would get to eat my food right when it came out, while it was still hot and just sit there and have an adult conversation, sold me in!

Can I just tell you how AMAAAZING OOKA is?? We had a little trouble ordering at first because it's not everyday we go to a sushi restaurant ya know? But we ordered an appetizer, an entree and some sushi! It was sooo delicious. I don't know if it was the fact that we were starving or how excited we were to be just us, but everything was sooo good. My mouth is watering just thinking about that sushi.

Here's what we ordered:

Appetizer: Gyoza- Pan fried pork dumpling (so yummy)

Entree: Teriyaki Chicken which comes with rice, mizo soup and garden salad. (awesome, hubby loves that dressing!)

Lobster Dynamite Roll- fresh lobster, avocado and mango covered with spicy tuna and sweet chili sauce. (this was the best everrrrr!)

Everything came out fresh and fast and it was the perfect portion amount. It was reasonable and so cute inside. Even the mints they give you with your bill was good! Our bill was only $50 with tip! Can't beat that!

By now, the mall was closed and the girls were getting tired so we just decided to meet them back at the house. On our way home, we stopped at Sprinkles Ice Cream Parlor for some amazing ice cream! It was sooo good!

Loved getting back to reality and to our girls. They had an amazing fun-filled day and got spoiled rotten with my parents! They went to bed right away, leaving the rest of the night for the hubby and I to relax.

I couldn't ask for a better day. Although we missed our girls terribly and were talking about them all day, it was nice to have a date again with my love.

LOOK AT WHAT I WON!!

Not the baby of course, but that would be Kourtney Kardashian's adorable little man Mason! But that cute playmat! She hosted a giveaway on her blog for a Skip Hop playspot and bedding set and I entered it. I soooo did not think I would win because she received over 900 entries and there was only going to be 3 winners!!

I'm a huge fan of the Kardashian shows so every now and then I stop by their blogs. I happened to see that she was giving this super chic playmat away and didn't hesitate to enter it. All you had to do was to leave a comment about your favorite childhood toy. So I did, not thinking for a chance I would be selected. Annoying People

This was me last night!

I just wanted to give a shout out to 2 people who annoyed me last night. After a long night the night before and a long day to follow I still had to go out and run some errands. Let's just say I only attacked 1 of the 3 stores I had to go to.

My first shout out goes to the very anti-social Staples employee! We didn't get to the store until 8pm. I needed a few things for me to get started on Kalina's 1st birthday invitations. I knew exactly what I wanted. The hubby was hanging out with the girls so I can pace through the store quickly. I got stuck on 2 items. First, I had a paper question. This employee was so monotone to answer me that I felt like I was prying information out of him. I had to almost drag him to the paper isle to show him what I was talking about. By now, it's almost closing time and all I needed was some damn adhesive magnets! I know they had it because I was smart enough to check the website before going there. I'm searching the entire store for ANYONE who works there. Anyone? Anyyyyyone? (echoooo) Nothing! I finally found someone wearing a Staples shirt and who is it?? Mr. Personality himself once again. He looked at me like I just spoke in another language. He finally told me to go to isle 5, which by the by I had just came from. As I'm making my way there his personality decides to come out and tell my daughter to put whatever she takes off the shelves to put back because he had just organized that isle. UMMM...OK! Dude, she's like 2! And long and behold, I found my adhesive magnets on isle 6 ALL BY MYSELF! Thank you very much! I made a point to go back to Mr. Personality and tell him that. Good night!

My second shout out goes to the lady at Wendy's! I wanted to get the girls something to eat since they had an early dinner so Lyla requested nuggets. Kalina was already freaking out in her car seat just because that's what she likes to do now... There was ONE car in front of us who were already getting their food. The lady at the drive thru window just decided to take her good old time and talk to her fellow co-workers and not make an attempt to take our order. We actually had to beep the horn to get her attention. After all of that with kids waiting very impatiently for their late snack, she proceeds to tell us they ran of nuggets for the night. (Insert car tire screeching here)

So I just wanted to give those 2 a wonderful shout out and thank them for their wonderful customer service. I think you picked the right career for you! Keep up the good work!

Sleep? What's that?

Two items that are getting me through the day!

Last night the hubs and I had the worst night since we had kids. It was a toughie. If we got 1 hour of sleep between the both of us, it was too much. Kalina was not one happy camper in the Dempster Camp last night. I think she had a case of the "teething" really bad. She had such a good day yesterday, just like any other day. She is so pleasant. Nothing bothers this kid. Not even the many hair pulls and toy stealing she endures from her bully aka. big sis. (I'll get to that on another post) She was having so much fun, she even skipped a nap! So for sure I thought she was going to sleep all night since she wore herself off all day. I even said to John before I took her up, "She's going to have a great night cause she's so tired." Boy, was I wrong. I totally jinxed us!

She had her last bottle and before it was over she was asleep in my arms. I was out of her room in no time! I even got slapped high five from the hubby! And as always, as soon as we lay down in bed and get all comfy we hear her through the monitor. John had no luck putting her back so I thought I'd give it a go since sometimes she's a mommy's girl. Every time she fell asleep as soon as I laid her down she would wake up freaking out! She was getting so frustrated with her binky because she wanted it but I guess it hurt her gums that she would just rip it out of her mouth and throw it! Then she wanted nothing to do with a bottle. After 2 HOURS of trying to put her back to sleep, I did something I said I would NEVER do even though her doctor recommended me to. I kissed her goodnight and laid her down and walked away. I let her cry. It broke my heart and made me cry with her but after trying to put her to sleep 5 times and already being almost 3 AM, I gave up...

She cried such a heartfelt cry. She even woke Lyla up! Now we were dealing with 2 kids up in the middle of the night! I went back into the room to try the bottle one more time and to give her some Tylenol. Another HOUR goes by and still no luck. Now I really HAD to just let her go to sleep on her own. Her pediatrician even told me to stop rocking her to sleep and just let her cry. It wouldn't kill her. But as a mom, I would never want my kids to fall asleep crying. That's just not right to me. But last night, I had to, for her own good. Because I felt like if I kept trying to put her to sleep, she would fall asleep on me and just keep waking up every time I put her down. I do not let my kids sleep in our bed. We don't want to start that at all! So once again I walked away and this time I did not go back. She cried...A LOT, but eventually she gave in and fell asleep. All I wanted to do was to go in there and hold her one more time but I knew she needed to get some rest.

Just when I thought I was going to shut my eyes, she woke up about an hour later. This time the hubby went to get her while Lyla was falling asleep on the couch. Now he had 2 kids to put to sleep because I was in no condition to even function. He did it though folks! He got them both to sleep! As soon as he got up to go upstairs to put Kalina back in her crib, Lyla realized Daddy was gone and freaked out! She screamed so loud that YUP it woke Kalina back up! I threw myself out of bed and went to lay with Lyla on the couch while John attempted ONCE AGAIN to put Kalina to sleep. By now it's almost 5 AM. He told me Kalina finally went to sleep on him around 6 AM!!

I woke up at 7:30am because he was getting ready for work and went to sleep in my bed. An hour later, the girls were up and ready for their days to start!

So as you can see from my pics those are the items that are keeping me awake today! Both girls went down for a nap at the same time. It's been 3 HOURS!!! I hear Kalina on the monitor and Lyla is still sleeping. I guess I missed my window to take a nap too?? Darn, if I only knew they would sleep for this long....

Oh well, back to mom duty!

Here it is! I found it! This is by far the best cookie snack ever to be made!

I love it so much that one box is definitely not enough, especially how I "have" to share...

It is bite size which you think at first is good, but then you can't stop shoving them in your mouth! And if you're wondering, YES it does taste exactly like a s'more!

Me and the girls are snacking on it as I type and it's D-LISH! Go out and try it, you'll thank me later. Or not because you won't put the box down!

Ok, gotta go cause the girls are hoggin' the box!

Where-O-Where?

SO it seems like there is a mystery person in my house that likes to mysteriously hide, steal, get rid of certain items here. No matter how organized we get, these items always end up gone!

Here's a list of some of them:

Binkies- no matter how many we buy and store, for some reason we can never find any of the girls' binkies!
Hair Brushes- this mystery person must have a lot of hair to brush...
Tupperware Lids- seriously? where are they??
Nail Clipper- it's a very high maintenance mystery person...
Socks- now I know I put BOTH pairs in there but only one comes out...
Receipts & Coupons- mystery person likes to be thrifty too!
Bottle Lids- ok, this just really gets to me. I would love to know where all the lids to the girls' bottles are, aside from the one the hubby left at Target...
My Phone- good thing I have unlimited...
My Glasses- I think I have gone at least a month not knowing where it is!
My Sanity, Patience, Energy- still looking for these, if you find them, let me know!

Truckin' Around

Ok, so it's been forever since I've posted anything on here about myself. I've just been super busy! But things are finally easing down so I will be posting a lot more!

In the meantime, I thought it would be funny to post a short vlog on me driving a tow truck! An 11 ton flat bed to be exact! Yup, little me driving a huge truck! Very funny!

I actually had a lot of fun and I'm thinking about doing a lot more of these vlog things...

Any of you who have children and went through the "teething" phase know how much our little ones love to grab and chew on whatever we have around our necks! And for those of you who have not entered that phase yet...brace yourself.

Right now Kalina is in that phase, which oh so fun! I love wearing jewelry, but since she started teething I haven't been able to because she immediately grabs on to my necklace and puts it in her mouth. So I just stopped wearing them. Insert sad face here.

Price Products was kind enough to send me these two products to review. Ever since I've tried the Dwink Box and the Dripstik, they have not left the diaper bag! I take it with me every time I go out.

With a busy schedule like mine between juggling kids, work, school, errands, home, etc. I bet you wonder how I can manage it all? I get asked at least once a day, how do you do it? How do you keep yourself organized?

Grocery List: This is pretty self-explanatory. Who doesn't make a grocery list when they go to the supermarket? But this one is so much more organized and you won't be all over the place once you're at the store.

I have found all 3 of these items to be so helpful to keep me organized. I feel lost without my Bubble Planner because I have numerous lists and important appointments in there. Because my kids are not school aged yet but I am (LOL) I use the Homework Helper for me. I used to have my assignments all over the place and not remember what was due and when it was due. This helped me to keep track of all my homework and tests and not miss a thing! And of course, the grocery list has helped us to just jot down what we need and check off on our list as we go.

Hubby has some 'splaining to do!

Are you wondering why daughter #1 is in a dog crate?? Yup, so am I! I've been working a couple of hours at night time, so the hubby has been on full mommy & daddy mode while I'm gone. So today, I'm calling out for Lyla and she's no where to be found. I started to hear little giggles and I followed them until......TA-DA! This is where I found her!

The hubby tells me that while I was gone last night, she was playing in there with her cousin. So now she's having play dates in there?? I'm only gone for 2 hours people!! So now, thanks to daddy, our toddler has a new obsession, the dog crate! Although, I must admit it does provide some entertainment to her leading me to have a few more minutes to do whatever, I feel there's something wrong with this picture? As you can see from the pictures, she's smiling and having a great time! And let me just say that she climbed in there all on her own, I do not lock my kids in dog crates LOL!

So as of this morning, I didn't realize we had a new puppy named Lyla! I guess it's time to move the dog crate out of the living room before I find Kalina crawling in there too...

Sorry I have been M.I.A. but I've been overwhelmed by a very busy schedule! I didn't even have time to think this past week therefore not having time to keep up with anything on here! But here goes:

My parents celebrated their 27th Wedding Anniversary last week! Wow, I hope I can mirror them in such a great marriage...
Kalina is now saying Dada, Lala (for Lyla) & imitates a monster. Um, can I get a Mama??
Lyla now MUST fall asleep on the couch while watching tv. She is so her father!
I am so excited that our trip to Brazil is finally booked! Is it December yet??
If my GPS could curse me out, it would, because I never listen to "her".
Really contemplating whether or not I should join in on this Twilight phenomenon.
My diet consists of sugar candy (preferably sour ones) and soda. There! My secret is out for losing my baby weight.
I think stuffed animals are slowly taking over our house.
I really want to own a chicken and a duck, just waiting to have a bigger back yard.
I'm skipping number 10 cause I feel like it....NEXT!
I can't for our little getaway this weekend! It's a must NEED!
The one thing I hate about dying my hair a different color is ROOTS!
Has anyone seen my house? It's hiding somewhere beyond the clutter!

Once again, late with this. Story of my life...

Really need to stop snacking... I think it's catching up with me!
I went through soda withdraw so bad that I drank root beer.
At times, I wish I was a little kid again...
I hate the sound of construction, mowing the lawn, heck any loud noise now-a-days bother me! I must be getting old.
LOVE doing Yo Gabba Gabba Dancey Dances in the shower with Lyla!
I really do not deserve a phone for what I put it through.
I must step on a SHARP & POINTY toy at least TWICE a day!
My husband told me not to throw any trash in the bathroom trash, it's just for show. (Insert confusion here)
Sad that very soon I will no longer have babies in the house, my girls are getting too big! (But not sad enough to have another one hehe)
I want my dogs to eat my math homework!!
I'm not a wall on Facebook, I did not ask for your comment...
REALLY dislike people who complain about everything!
Who invented glitter? Seriously?
I could've spent every penny I have at the Crayola Store!
I love how Kalina is crawling! Lyla never did so this is new to me!

Sprinkles vs. Jimmies

What do you call the little, sugar-coated candies that is considered an ice cream topping? It comes in rainbow or chocolate??

I would love to see how many people would write SPRINKLES or JIMMIES. I'm always having this conversation with the hubby. He likes to say Jimmies and I like to say Sprinkles. I know most people from here, Philly, say Jimmies. I think Sprinkles is more appropriate, hence the action of "sprinkling" it on top of your ice cream and it's cuter. That is why Lyla now says Sprinkles as well. LOL

We just had this discussion yesterday when I order Lyla an ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. Some people around me started the conversation and it led me to write a post about it. I told the hubby I would and let's see if the majority of people agree with me or him...

Padded Bikini Tops For Young Girls

Ok, I don't even know where to begin with this one... BUT I've come across some bikini tops for 7 YEAR OLDS that are PADDED!!

Yup, you read that correctly. PADDED bikini tops for little girls!! Why on Earth would a little girl ranging from let's say 7 years to 12 years of age need a padded bikini top?? What kind of message is that sending out? Why would a parent want to buy something like this for their little girl and have that kind of attention on her?

I don't get it. As a mother of 2 little girls, I would never consider this bikini for them. I personally don't mind them wearing bikinis. I think it's cute and I don't find anything wrong with it. But once there's padding in the bikini top, that's where I draw the line.

Anyone out there agree or disagree? Mothers of little girls, what do you think about this? Would you let your 7 year old wear a bikini like this one? I would love to hear your feedback!

Started my new part time job today! If I didn't have enough on my plate!
I'm so tired of cleaning "pee-pee" off the floor and it ain't from a new puppy...
Thinks it's so cute when little kids whispers.
Procrastination leads to accumulation.
Potty training would be fun if Lyla actually liked the potty.
Coming home to a cooked dinner is fabulous!
I am sooo not bikini ready! Grrr...
Kalina loves to blow raspberries..... when she has food in her mouth.
Feels like every one of my weekends are booked until the end of summer!
Had an awesome time at the Laurie Berkner Band concert, despite the rain.
Bought VIP tickets to Yo Gabba Gabba Live in Philly for Lyla's 2nd birthday! Woo-hoo!
Really could use a weekend getaway with the family.
I get a panic attack just thinking about a hot air balloon.
You can't convince me to go on a cruise!
Love planning our Brazil trip for the end of the year.

"Mommy, I touch poopies!" -Lyla

So today is the day that I've decided to take potty training to the next level. I introduced the potty to Lyla when she turned 1. She actually managed to go "poop" on there a few times and we got to the point where she now tells me when she's going. Once Kalina was born, I didn't have that much time to dedicate to the whole potty training thing. She still manages to tell me when she's going but she wants nothing to do with the potty. She likes to sit on it with her clothes on, talk to it and put things in it. My dream, and I think any mother out there share this dream, is to have her potty trained (at least during the day) by the time she is 2.

Well, it took one little incident for me to decide that we are in full effect with potty training. As usual, Lyla was in the corner and said, "Mommy, I pooping." And as usual, I always ask her if she wants to go on the potty, and her usual reply, "No." So I let her go about her business, even offered her a book and continued my conversation with my mother on the phone. As I'm talking, Lyla comes up to me and said, "Mommy, here, boogie." I thought she had picked her nose and wanted me to wipe off her hands. I noticed on her finger it was a BIG one! As a mom, nothing else disgusts me any more, so I just grabbed it with my hand until I was able to grab a tissue. Well, it turns out that this "boogie" was a little bit too mushy and still very warm...

As you all can guess by now, it was no "boogie". She had reached down in her diaper and touched her poop. I immediately hung up the phone to assess the situation. That's when I immediately went online and ordered her panties! I thought, that's it, I'm done with this whole diaper thing and apparently she is too. I ordered her "Yo Gabba Gabba" panties which I thought she would have fun with and actually wear them. I've been waiting for warmer weather where I can just let her run around in her new panties and a shirt.

Today, Lyla "threatened" to touch her poopies again, but I was able to catch her on it. Since it has gotten a little warmer, I thought today would be the day. My strategy? I really don't have one. I turned to my mother for advice, since she claims that I have been fully potty trained since the age of 2. Her way of approach was to just rip the diaper off and put panties on. That's it. She has warned me it will be the messiest few days of my life. But eventually, Lyla will feel gross and not want to go potty in her panties any more and I will start seeing signs of her wanting to go. That's when I'm supposed to scoop her up and put her on the potty.

Ok, so that is what I have done. Diaper is off, Foofa panties are on. I have set a timer to go off every 15-20 minutes, for me to put her on the potty. We'll see how this goes. Wish me luck!

Weekly Wrap Up

Ok, ok so I'm a day late with this week's WWU.

BUT to my defense, I've had a lot going on and I've been sick, SO I say better late than never, right?

Why do I always complain about infomercials but 10 minutes later I'm still watching it and contemplating whether or not to buy whatever they're selling??
I want to take this time to thank my lovely husband for teaching our toddler how to THROW! Her aim = MY FACE!
Celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! (love you)
Officially started classes.
Mommies do not get a sick day off :o/
Kudos to those working mamas! I leave my girls for 2 hours and I miss them terribly.
After searching for 10 minutes while the guy who was going to load my car with boxes patiently waited, I realized that my car does not have a button that pops the trunk!
Always keep snacks in your car, because when hunger strikes, eating left over crumbs of chips that your child did not want and have been sitting in your car for only God knows how long, might seem like a good idea at first, but it's...not.
There IS a difference between hearing and actually listening...learn it!

I've noticed Havaianas took off ever since the crew from the MTV Hit Show "Laguna Beach" started wearing them. And Ipanemas took off as well ever since Supermodel Gisele Budchen started promoting them. As you know by now, I'm Brazilian and both of these flip flops are made there. Ever since I was little, this is all you would find on my feet waaaay before MTV played reality shows and Gisele became a supermodel.

But of course they never made them this cute!! Take a look!

My awesome cousin has transformed ordinary Ipanema (Black) & Havaiana (White) flip flops into these sassy sandals! There hasn't been one time that I wear any of these and someone stops me to ask where I got them. I even have them asking if she's willing to make one for them! If you have ever tried one on, you know how comfortable and soft they are, and now they're cute and fashionable too! She makes all different kinds and colors making them even more unique!

Dear You,

I can't believe it's already been 5 years since our "I Dos". It feels like it was just yesterday I was anxiously getting beautified while you were getting a massage and drinking by the pool side. You told me this morning that we have reached a milestone. Since that day, we have reached many. We have accomplished so much in these 5 years. We have reached 2 amazing, beautiful milestones along the way, their names being, Lyla & Kalina.

Everyday that I wake up, I thank God for all that is around me. I have to stop and really wonder why and how did I get so lucky to be blessed with such an amazing, little family. Never did I think that I would have one of my own. I never thought I would find what most people call, "THE ONE". I honestly believed that there are billions of people on this Earth and it was so stupid to think that there was only ONE out there for me. ONE that would make me sooo happy. ONE that would be my everything. ONE that I could spend the rest of my life with. I used to think that there were at least a couple thousands that would make me happy. ;o)

Well, let's just say my theory fell through when I fell in love with you. I never thought I would find the perfect person for me. When I was younger, I sat down and listed everything that my "perfect" one would have. It took me 2 days to run out of things to list. When I met you, you slowly started checking off my list without even knowing. I never thought I would find someone who bought me roses just because it was Tuesday. Or someone who would open my car door or all doors for that matter. Or someone who tells me they love me EVERY time they walk out of the room. Or someone who's not afraid to hold my hand. Or someone who, when I look my worst because I've been in labor for 10 hours (Lyla), still finds me beautiful. Or someone, when I've been nothing but screaming and saying mean things to them because I'm 9cm and still no epidural (Kalina), still finds the sweetest things to say and make me feel better. Or someone who supports me NO MATTER WHAT. Or someone who shares the same goals, beliefs and big heart as I do. Or someone who would give me 2 beautiful babies. Or someone who puts their family first at all times.

I could sit here and go on and on bragging about your great qualities, but like I said before, I would be writing for 2 days. I just wanted to write and let you know how much fun it's been so far. We've had a great journey together these past years. It's been quite a ride with lots of ups and downs. I'm looking forward to many, many more years with you by my side. Thank you for always being there when I needed you most. Thank you for loving me for me, no questions asked. Thank you for always believing in us. Thank you for being you.

I know I'm tough, stubborn, hard-headed, nagging and big pain in the butt at times or should I say a lot of times? LOL But, I know how much you love me because you show me everyday. Couldn't imagine why anyone in their right mind would want to be married to me on a daily basis, but hey whatever, it's your call! Thanks for always being an amazing husband and loving father. You make me fall in love with you every single day.

Summer Shoes For Your Little Girls!

Like any other girl out there, I LOVE shoe shopping! Especially when that warm weather rolls around and all the cute flip flops & sandals comes out. And now that I have 2 girls, I love shoe shopping even more. Everything is so little and cute and we all know girls have more options! I can't wait until they're old enough where the 3 of us can go out and just shop! This will be very unfortunate for my husband and our bank account...

There isn't a time that I put these shoes on them that someone doesn't stop to tell me how cute they are and asks me where did I buy them. So I decided to share with you what my girls are wearing this summer! I guarantee you will get compliments non-stop! I know I do! They are also very soft and comfortable on their feet. Especially for Lyla who loves to run around, she had no problem wearing these. We actually put the Multicolor Flower one on her when we went to the Please Touch Museum. She walked in them ALL DAY and they did not hurt her feet or leave any red marks. They're also rubbery on the bottom and are not slippery.

They're great for the warm weather and very fashionable too!

Taga Bike Strollers are the new "IT" item to have! I'm truly amazed by this product. It's a baby stroller and carrier bike all rolled into one. It's super fun and safe. It's also very environment friendly, which is awesome! It's easy to maneuver it around stores, elevators, etc. It fits in the trunk of you car no problem! Please Touch Museum

On Saturday, May 8th, we went to our first visit to the Please Touch Museum. I must say we had a blast! Everything was accommodating to children, from parking to all stations inside the museum. It was also very accessible for those with strollers. We had a double stroller and I was concerned it would be very hard to maneuver it around everything and everyone, and it really wasn't!

We started having fun from the moment we walked in the door. Everyone was so friendly and nice to us. Thank you to all the staff who helped us get around, answered our questions, and greeted us from beginning to end. There was so much to do, see and touch that we didn't even know where to begin! It was a great variety of things for children of all ages to experience. As a parent, I had so much fun watching Lyla run around and have fun. I didn't have to worry about her touching anything that breaks or dropping something or fighting over something with another child. She could literally touch and do whatever she wanted. I didn't care about her making a mess, I just wanted her to have fun. At the Please Touch Museum, she was in charge. Even Kalina was great in the stroller the whole time. We had no meltdowns! She was just so amazed at everything that she just sat there and looked around.

We had a wonderful experience there. The place, the staff, the activities and even the food, was great! We definitely recommend the Please Touch Museum to anyone out there with kids that has lots of energy. This is a great place to let them run around! We will definitely be back again!

Loved celebrating my first Mother's Day with BOTH of my girls and all the other mommies this year!
My hubby makes everything special, no matter what.
Had soo much fun at the Please Touch Museum this weekend.
People really need to learn the rules at a 4 way stop sign situation.
After a certain incident, I decided to go into full-potty-training-mode! Good-bye diapers and Hello Panties!
Due to Kalina's urge to be heard at all times, I'm thinking of investing on some serious ear plugs!
Grocery shopping by myself is like therapy to me.
Why does RED spaghetti sauce always splatter when I'm wearing a WHITE shirt?
I've noticed this week some people really have A LOT of time on their hands. Wish they would share...
Why have a nice couch if your toddler is just going to write, color, wipe their hands, drop the messiest food on it? Seriously? It was one pattern but now it's a whole new one!

Children's Medicine RECALL 2010

Hurry and check your medicine cabinet - there has been a recall on Children's and Infant's Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl.

The FDA and McNeil Consumer Health Care are working together on this recall. The recall includes the following brands: Tylenol Infants' Drop, Children's Tylenol Suspensions, Children's Tylenol Plus Suspensions, Motrin Infant Drops, Children's Motrin Suspensions, Children's Zyrtec Liquids in Bottles, Children's Benadryl Allergy Liquids in Bottles. If you have any of the listed medications in your cabinet they are advising us to discontinue use—even before expiration date.

Johnson & Johnson has recalled approximately 50 types of children’s medications in response to quality control problems and the possible presence of small particles within the medication.

The FDA is currently investigating Johnson & Johnson’s factory, and has made some disturbing discoveries. Perhaps the most serious of their discoveries is the presence of an antibiotic resistant bacteria called Burkholderia cepacia (B cepacia.)

Johnson & Johnson claims that the B cepacia did not reach the final product, and that consumers should not be concerned about it’s presence. The FDA, however, has not jumped to the same conclusion. Although the FDA has not specifically warned consumers about the possible presence of this bacteria within the medication, that have specifically urged parents not to use any of the recalled products. They are instead encouraging parents to use the generic equivalents of the medication. The FDA has also openly criticized Johnson & Johnson for their findings within the facility.

So I'm starting this new series of posts that will be called "Weekly Wrap Up". I will try to do a new post every Monday with things that I have learned or experienced in the past week. It will be an overview of how my week(end) went. Hope you enjoy reading it!

Sweet potatoes on my shirt is not a good look for me! (Thanks Kalina for letting me know.)
I'm having a secret affair with soda.
I ate a whole pack of double stuffed Oreos this week. (Please don't judge!)
I believe that my finger will always smell and taste like Desitin.
My husband and I find excitement in clipping coupons for things that we need.
Invented a new recipe for frozen pudding with jello by accident and the hubby loved it and suggested that I try it with alcohol next time...
Enrolled in school and I will start next week! Loving it!
I'm happy and sad at the same time for realizing how fast our girls are growing up.
Feels so blessed to have celebrated Kalina's Christening this weekend.
I absolutely love having my hubby around for the whole weekend and is really happy he is no longer working Saturdays! Yay! More family time!
I can chew more than I bite off!
If you count my feet, I have 4 hands.
Lyla thinks the entire house and legs are her coloring world :o/
I have made some great deals for my blog.
Lyla is really starting to mimic me more and more.
Went a little more blonde and I must say I am having a little more fun!

Kalina is 7 months today!
Sunshine makes me smile.
My girls have the best/funniest personalities that makes me laugh and smile everyday.
My laundry will probably never be up to date.
Why is it every time my house cleaner leaves, within 5 minutes, it looks like she never came?
Sneezes are taking over the household.
6 year olds don't take naps?? Is this what I have to look forward to?

Iron Cupcake Challenge

The Iron Cupcake Challenge (ICC) is a fun way to get baking enthusiasts together to vie for the title of IRON CUPCAKE CHAMPION and it's all for charity!

Each month a flavor/ingredient will be disclosed and members must bake their best cupcake based on the given flavor, similar to Food Network's Iron Chef Challenge. Prizes are given and judges choose their favorite cupcake based on Style, Presentation, Creativity and of course Flavor! They contribute a portion of the proceeds to local charities.

Embarking on a new Journey...

I've decided to embark on a new Journey...

...And that journey is, I'm going to go back to school! Am I crazy or am I crazy? I know what you're probably thinking, why would it be crazy for me to go back to school? Well, being a stay at home mom to 2 girls who are under the age of 2 and only 13 months apart, babysitting another 5 month old girl Monday thru Friday with an occasional extra kid or two, blogging, doing my wifely duties, taking care of 2 dogs, tutoring...etc. where am I going to find the time to STUDY? I like a challenge, so I decided to manage all of the above and adding school to the mix.

Even though, I'm a little nervous of juggling everything at once, I'm actually really excited and can't wait! My hubby works at Manor College, so that is where I will be going. It's a great 2 year college and plus, I get to go for FREE! Can't beat that. It might be a little weird at times because I have become friends with some of the teachers there and now I will be probably be their student...

I've decided to go for my Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Sciences. I want to specialize in ultrasounds during pregnancies. Since being pregnant, twice, I was always amazed at every ultrasound session that I had. I couldn't believe that while I was looking at a black and white blob on screen, the ultrasound technician was taking a look at my baby's brain. It was incredible!

Due to lack of time, I will be going part time. I'm trying to make up for loss time by going through the summer. Right now, I'm signed up for 2 online classes, Enlgish and Math. Ahh! I'm so not worried about Enlgish, but Math? I'm horrible at it and don't get it at all, so I will be calling for help very SOON! Summer classes are only 5 weeks long, but tend to be a little more stressful because they try to cram in 15 weeks worth of work into 5! But the good thing is, it'll pass on by quickly. It might take forever for me to complete my degree because I'm going part time, but I don't care as long as I finish, even if that means going to school in my 30's. I figure I get a head start now while I'm still only 24 and my mind is still semi-functional then to start later on and waste all this time. Hopefully, by the time that our girls are in school full time, I will be finishing up school and starting my career!

So here's to me taking a step to better my future and better my family's future. My girls and my husband are my motivation! And here's to a much more busier schedule including dirty diapers, bottles, back to back episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba, outside Summer fun and now online, night and possible Saturday classes!

Wish me luck! I'll keep you updated on my new Journey to the future!

Devastation in Rio (Brazil)

By now, you may or may not have heard of the devastation in Rio and Niteroi (across the bay from Rio). On Monday, April 5th, late afternoon, the city of Brazil received 11.3 inches of rain in a 24-hour period. It was the heaviest in 48 years. The results, as you can see from the pictures, were devastating.

Well over 100 were dead before the next day and that was before more mudslides in the area buried hundreds more alive. Niteroi declared a state of emergency while Rio declared 3 days of mourning.

About 4,000 families have been made homeless and 10,000 houses remains at risk.

Health workers will distribute 70,000 aid packages to the victims of the flood. The kits will contain food, clothes and medical supplies.

As you all know, I'm from Brazil, so this story hits close to home, literally. I have family who resides in Rio. Right now my family and I are doing everything we can to help out our country. So far, we have packed 2 huge boxes of clothes and toys to ship over there. We contacted a local church in Rio who are very excited to receive these donations and distribute them to those in need. I'm in the works of teaming up with a moving company to see if we can get any kind of discounts on the shipment. The boxes will costly approximately $230 each to have them shipped to Rio. I will be putting up a huge part of this cost out of my own pocket. My goal is to have at least enough donations to pay for the two boxes, total cost = $460. My ultimate goal is to receive a lot more so we can put together more boxes of clothes and toys to ship to those families who are now homeless and orphans. They literally are left with nothing but the awful memories of what happened.

Please, let's try our best to help those in need out. I couldn't imagine going through a third of what they went through and now still have to worry about where are they going to live, are their families still alive, and so much more!

Earth Day

So today being "Earth Day", I have thought up of some activities to do with Lyla (because Kalina is too young) to teach her some things about the Earth and how to RECYCLE & REUSE.

I got some great ideas from Target at their "Dollar Spot". They have little pots that comes with the flower seeds already. They're very tiny and cute! They also have bigger pots with different seeds that you can purchase separately. You can make it an Earth Day activity, to plant flowers. It also gives your child(ren) a sense of responsibility to water them routinely. I also purchased gardening tools for Lyla. She is such an outdoor girl and loves to play outside. I noticed her interest in helping my parents out in their garden and how much she wanted to play with their, sharp tools, so I got her very own plastic and child-friendly set!

To celebrate Earth Day today, I plan to not use my car today! Instead, I will take the girls for a nice walk. I'm going to bring a trash bag with me and some plastic gloves and have Lyla help me pick up trash along the way. To help save some energy, I'm going to have less Tv and computer time. Although, this may seem like a challenge, I have picked out different Earth Day activities to do with her. Here are 2 that I plan to do today:

Home-Made Binoculars and Greeting Card Storage Box

Thanks to About.com: Family Crafts for the great ideas! Check them out for a complete list of different arts & crafts that you can do. I plan to use our Home-Made Binoculars on our nature walk today. I can't wait to make my Greeting Card Storage Box because I always feel bad throwing away cards that we receive and they just keep piling up, so this will be a great thing to do!

There are many things that we can all do as a community to help our Earth. Although, this is one day out of the year that we really take focus on it, please try to make everyday Earth Day and let's try to make the grass a little greener on both sides!!

The Fresh Beat Band Live in Concert at Sesame Place!

You just can't imagine our excitement when I found out that The Fresh Beat Band are going to be performing at Sesame Place! Combine one of her favorite places, Sesame Place, and one of her favorite shows, The Fresh Beat Band, and we will have a very happy toddler!

The Fresh Beat Band will be performing on Saturday, June 19th to Sunday, June 20th (10 AM - 8 PM). Concerts will be held at Monster Rock Theater at 12:30pm, 3:30pm and 4:45pm on Saturday and 10:45am, 12:00pm and 1:15pm on Sunday.*

Lyla's Cool Trick

On Sunday, the family and I finished off our day at the Cheesecake Factory. My mouth is still watering just thinking about the food and dessert that we had there. Anyway, I don't how familiar any of you are with the show Yo Gabba Gabba, but Lyla absolutely LOVES it! There is a segment on there called "Cool Tricks" where different people, including kids, will go to debut their special talent aka. Cool Trick. In one episode, a little boy's cool trick is to hang a spoon off his nose. Lyla finds his trick really funny. While we were sitting at our table yesterday waiting for our food to arrive, Lyla grabs a spoon and hangs off her nose and turns to John and I and said, "Cool Trick, Cool Trick". We burst out laughing. I don't know any 20 month old that can do this! Haha. Good thing I had my camera with me and was able to capture it on film and in pictures.

In just a few days, hurricane season will begin in Haiti. Over 700,000 men, women and children currently have no proper homes to shelter them from the rain. You can help by purchasing a waterproof tent or donating cash to help provide an immediate home in Haiti for those who desperately need it. Although, this is still not a permanent solution or an appropriate form of "Home" but it's a solution for RIGHT NOW! Join the many sponsors and celebrities who are helping out. There are hurricane seasons throughout the world and we all know there are millions of people out there who also need our help, but our main focus right now is Haiti due to their recent devastation.
